BUDDHAPEST FRINGE FESTIVALS

The “Fringe Festival Society” was founded in 1958, with the duty of coordinating the programs, advertising the event, selling tickets from a central office and giving advices to the performers on how to make their dreams reality.

The society strives to provide free hand to all performers to the Fringe, through allowing the right to all sorts of productions to take place, indiscriminately, without any previous selection; therefore anyone can perform at this wholly open festival. In 2003 for example, there were more than 650 different art alignments, from the A-listed Hollywood and mighty theatre stars, through the passionate amateurs and the dedicated undergraduates, all gathered to win the culture-hungry Fringe-public’s attention and approval.

BUDDHAPEST INTERNATIONAL WINE FESTIVALS

There's wine festival in Budapest in almost every season. No wonder the finest Hungarian wines deserve to be cherished as often as possible.
A wine festival is a great opportunity to taste wines of the most famous Hungarian wine producers
but you can also find excellent wines from lesser known wineries.

DANUBE CARNIVAL

The multi-cultural festival takes place in several spots within the city centre including
Professional and amateur folk artists, contemporary dancers, musicians from Hungary and all over the world will be present on this 10-day festival.

There'll be a procession on the Chain Bridge and Carnival Gala on Margaret Island Open Air Theatre. All events are free except for the Carnival Gala on Margaret Island Open Air Theatre.

SZIGET FESTIVAL

The Sziget Festival (pronounced ) is one of the largest music and cultural festivals in Europe. The festival is held annually in August in Budapest, Hungary  and takes place on Óbudai-sziget ("Old-Buda Island"), a leafy island of 108 hectares (266 acres) on the Danube, thus Szigetstands for Island. Currently it holds more than 1000 performances each year.

The week-long festival has grown from a relatively low-profile 1993 student event to become bigger by the late 1990s, with about half of all visitors coming from outside Hungary, including the UK and France (11 000 French visitors in 2007). It also has a dedicated "party train" service (with resident DJ's) that transports festivalgoers from Western Europe.
